Student Success Story: Amber Gaudet

My experience with the Urban Fellows Scholarship program has been amazing! With my family being affected financially by COVID-19, I was worried I might have to get a second summer job and would not be able to devote all of my passion to my unpaid internship. The financial support the program provided has really allowed me to focus on excelling and making the most of my experience this summer. As a news reporting intern, it’s important my schedule remains flexible so I can cover stories as they come up and the shadow full-time journalists I’m learning from. Thanks to the support I received from Urban Fellows, I was able to pay for my internship class without taking on more work responsibilities I did not have time for and could instead focus on being as successful as I could at my internship. I am incredibly grateful to the Urban Fellows team for giving me this opportunity and I know it means so much to students with financial responsibilities to be able to take on unpaid, for-credit internships without the additional financial strain of having to pay for the internship class. – Amber Gaudet
