Student Success Story: Patricia Coleman

My Urban Fellow experience at Hector Garcia Middle School in Dallas provided a valuable opportunity to develop my consulting skills within training and development in a family-focused setting. I collaborated closely with school leadership to create tailored action plans to address their specific needs. Additionally, I designed a parent survey to identify potential community partners, which was implemented during a Meet the Teacher night. I applied my skillset to building parent training programs focused on supporting learning at home and identifying signs of unhealthy habits. I also began preparing for grant writing to secure additional resources the school needs. This experience has prepared me for future work in community empowerment. I plan to continue as a volunteer consultant to help this school serve as a pilot for expanding my programming as a training and development entrepreneur. – Patricia Coleman
