TWU Handshake
The Urban Fellows Program provided me with the financial support needed to complete my unpaid internship without the burden of financial constraints. I am truly grateful to have been accepted into a program that empowers students to gain invaluable professional experience and develop their skills. During my internship, I enhanced my technical proficiency with Excel, creating dynamic and interactive documents. I was also introduced to SmartCare, a behavioral health EHR system, and gained hands-on experience navigating it as a front-end user. One of the highlights of my experience was using Power BI, a powerful data visualization tool. My most significant project involved inventorying and consolidating EHR reports, a task that demanded meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and close collaboration with leadership at the Center. I encourage students to pursue internships, even if they are unpaid, as the skills and experience gained are truly priceless. – Christy Bui
