The Texas Woman’s University (TWU) Urban Fellows Internship Program provides $1,000 scholarships to eligible undergraduate and graduate students who obtain unpaid summer or semester internships at nonprofit, community, or governmental organizations. Our mission is to provide financial support for students who desire an opportunity to gain valuable internship experience at organizations that are historically unpaid. Funding provided by the Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership (JNIWL). The Urban Fellows Program will help develop future community and government leaders and enhance the interaction of TWU with city government and nonprofit organizations. Scholarships are awarded by the Career Connections Center scholarship committee.
The scholarship amounts to $1,000 per student per internship/semester. Students will complete 80 noncredit hours over the course of 8 weeks.
Scholarships will be funded at the start of a student’s internship. Incompletion of the internship will result in the recipient having the amount taken out of their financial aid. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be signed by recipients and committee members. More information will be available to recipients during any Urban Fellows on-boarding seminar.
