About Chapter One:

At Chapter One, we’re revolutionizing the home services industry. Our unique business model empowers seasoned service providers—plumbers, electricians, HVAC specialists, and more—to start and own successful businesses with our comprehensive support. Leveraging a combination of industry expertise and entrepreneurial resources, we help these professionals write the first chapter of their own business story, transitioning from experienced employees to empowered business owners. Join us in building a network of thriving home service businesses, where every new beginning is a story of success.

These are a couple of the businesses we’ve kicked off, e.g.: www.goodfellaspm.com, www.rsjheatingandair.com

The Role:

As a Business Development Intern, you’ll play a key role in Chapter One’s mission to launch successful businesses. You’ll engage directly with inbound candidates interested in starting their own service businesses, building relationships while ensuring they have the skills and experience required to succeed. This position is ideal for a motivated student seeking hands-on experience in vetting, relationship-building, and startup culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial interviews with potential home service providers, such as plumbers, electricians, and HVAC specialists.
  • Ask qualifying questions to verify candidates’ skills and experience (e.g., “What tools do you use regularly in your trade?”).
  • Build rapport with candidates and assess their entrepreneurial readiness.
  • Document candidate responses and provide recommendations to the team.
  • Support Chapter One’s broader recruitment and onboarding efforts as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills: You’re great at building relationships and making people feel at ease.
  • Curious and detail-oriented: You’re comfortable asking questions and digging deeper to understand candidates’ expertise.
  • Organized: You can manage multiple interviews and document findings clearly.
  • Student status: This position is ideal for a college student interested in entrepreneurship, recruiting, or tech sales.
  • Driven to grow: This role is a stepping stone to opportunities in tech sales, recruitment, and business strategy within a fast-growing startup.

Why Join Chapter One?

  • Gain hands-on experience in a startup environment.
  • Play a meaningful role in helping skilled professionals launch their own businesses.
  • Build foundational skills for a career in tech sales, recruiting, or business strategy.
  • Learn how to start your own company
