The Producer Services Field Consultant in Global North is responsible for supporting effective
implementation of Fair Trade USA’s producer support services for Global North producers. This
role collaborates with the larger Producer Services & Certification team to support producers
and deepen the impact of Fair Trade certification among Fair Trade producers. This position has
the possibility of turning into a full-time, permanent position.
Implement support strategies for agricultural producers and farm workers that drive greater
impact through improved compliance and post-compliance support
o Work with prospective and certified growers to help them understand and implement
Fair Trade standards to achieve compliance, navigate the certification process, and
provide related training to farm owners, implementers and workers.
o Implement account specific workplans with support interventions based on
producers’ compliance and impact needs in their Fair Trade journey.
o Maintain accuracy of grower data, contacts, program implementation data and
compliance information in our database (Salesforce and others).
o Work with larger Producer Services team to track audits, audit reports, corrective
action plans, and certification.
Research, identify and develop relationship with NGO, advocacy groups and other related
organizations and community leaders in regions with Fair Trade Certified companies.
Support the Impact, Research, and Learning Team with implementation of Monitoring and
Skills, Experience, & Knowledge
1 to 3 years of professional experience, working with internal and external stakeholders
Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills, including ability to
communicate complex information to varying audiences in a simple and meaningful way.
Ability to work in a flexible, yet fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment, able to
meet deadlines and share progress regularly.
Positive outlook, diplomatic and adept at conflict resolution, with ability to work well with
all levels of staff and a broad range of stakeholders and partners.
Demonstrated coalition builder
Spanish language fluency required (verbal and written).
A passion for Fair Trade USA’s mission, vision, and accomplishments.
Significant domestic (up to 30%) and some international (up to 10%) travel required
Education & Training
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, International Development, Sustainability or
Technology & Software
Knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and Powerpoint
