Harmonium was established in 1975 through an enterprising blend of vision and necessity to respond to Mira Mesa’s rapidly growing need for juvenile diversion services. We continue to shape our mission, goals and services by listening to the needs of neighborhoods, individuals and families.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that reaches more than 30,000 San Diegans a year and offer a wide array of innovative and customized program services to over 5,000 children, youth, and families each day throughout San Diego County. JOB DESCRIPTION.
When you join our team as an after school Youth Leader, you’ll help shape a better world for our San Diego youth. A Youth Leader has passion for working with children and a drive to help them realize their fullest potential. The goal is to create an environment that inspires, motivates, and engages youth utilizing your creativity and resilience.
Whether you’re an entry level applicant, or have years of experience, we’re dedicated to supporting all team members’ continued growth through our robust training program. We offer both trainings that are job specific and trainings focused on creating an inclusive, equitable, and united world.
Harmonium operates programs throughout San Diego, all staff are considered multi-site workers and may be asked to sub or move to another site based on the needs of the program. We are currently looking for part-time (PM shift) candidates to join schools throughout San Diego, CA.
JOB COMPLEXITY.
- Supervise day-to-day activities of youth in the program
- Lead enriching activities such as interactive games and arts & crafts
- Uncover new and engaging ways to assist youth with homework
MINIMUM COMPETENCIES.
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must have 6 months experience (paid or unpaid) in any of the following settings: an after school program, group child care setting, or babysitting elementary aged children
- Must have 48 completed college units OR pass the District’s Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (a basic math and literacy test)
- Must have a valid Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification upon hire
- Ability to travel throughout the county with the flexibility required to meet job duties
COMPENSATION.
- Starting Rate: $20.60 per hour (all new hires begin at starting salary regardless of experience)
- Part Time benefits include voluntary benefits, a 403b retirement plan plus match, and CA Paid Sick Leave in addition to hands-on training, virtual courses, and live presentations.
