Our technical training and placement assistance program provides participants with the opportunity to get hired by the foremost cardiac device manufacturers (Abbott, Boston Scientific, Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic and others) early in their careers. The program is a 6 month intensive training program designed to teach the fundamentals of the Cardiac Rhythm Management – CRM (pacemakers, defibrillators & heart failure devices), Electrophysiology (advanced cardiac mapping & ablations for arrhythmia termination) and Structural Heart (trans-catheter valve repair/replacement) businesses. The position we are training students for is a Clinical/Technical Specialist role. Clinical Specialist’s will be supporting Electrophysiologists/Cardiologists in the Cardiac Cath Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, Operating Room, Hospital, Emergency Room and Physician’s clinics. They are actively engaged in providing technical support during device implants, mapping/ablation procedures, structural heart procedures and cardiac device evaluations/programming after implant. The course is structured with 2 weeks dedicated to fundamentals, 8 weeks to CRM, 1 week of professionalism (resume writing/interviewing skills, etc.), 7 weeks of EP, 3 weeks of Structural Heart and 3 weeks of dedicated clinical observations. During CRM, EP & SH training we have clinical observations 1-2 days a week and during the clinical observations weeks we are out 4 days a week. The Clinical Observations are conducted at Memorial Hermann hospitals and EP Heart Electrophysiology Clinics. We have a 9000 sq./ft. training center with classrooms, all of the companies cardiac device programmers with ECG simulators and live devices, a simulation lab with a 3D Systems Simbionix AngioMentor simulator for procedural simulations and Electrophysiology advanced mapping systems, a conference room with teleconferencing capability for remote instructors/interviews and a spacious break room with refrigerators and microwaves. We are directly affiliated with UTHealth, University of Texas McGovern Medical School, the Memorial Hermann hospital system (including the Texas Medical Center) and EP Heart, the largest Electrophysiology group in Houston to provide a unique educational opportunity during clinical observations. During training students meet with hiring managers from Abbott, Biotronik, Boston Scientific, Johnson & Johnson (Biosense Webster), Medtronic and others, as well as many of their field reps which provides the opportunity to network and develop relationships and learn from them during clinical observations. Students will also be interviewed by all of these companies’ managers for job opportunities across the country. The fee for the program is $30,000 and the median starting salary for a Clinical/Technical Specialist is $75,000-$85,000 (salary range of $70K-$135K) with full benefits (pension, matching 401K, stock purchase plan (10-15% discount), bonus opportunities, company car/allowance, mileage reimbursement, cell phone allowance, tuition reimbursement, medical, dental, life ins, disability ins).
