Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Research has a Summer Internship position available in the Cloud Infrastructure Research group in Yorktown Heights, NY.
This group focuses on the next generation of cloud infrastructure that meets the needs of IBM Cloud customers. The research agenda of the group spans multiple technical areas in the context of hybrid cloud, including network architecture, security, control and management systems, high-speed networked-storage, and accelerators.
You will focus on software-defined cloud networking and actively work on researching and prototyping cloud networking and traffic engineering algorithms and solutions. Your responsibilities will also include evaluation of the solutions from performance, scalability, security and resiliency perspectives.
Candidates pursuing a PhD in Computer Science or Computer Engineering are preferred.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
One or more of the following skills:
1) Java or Python coding-1 year
2) Cloud networking, data center networking, software-defined networking (SDN) experience-6 months
3) Network routing protocols experience (e.g. BGP, MPLS)-6 months
4) Network virtualization experience-6 months
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
One or more of the following skills:
1) Java coding and python coding-2 years
2) Data center or software-defined networking experience-1 year
3) Linux networking experience-6 months
4) Switch OS/NIC experience (e.g. SONIC, Stratum, P4)-6 months
5) Cloud automation experience-6 months
