Mission and Values
The mission of the Latino Center of the Midlands is to enhance the lives of the Heartland Latino Community by supporting the education and development of our youth and adults; promoting comprehensive engagement of our families in all facets of their lives; and by fostering leadership through a variety of services and activities.
The Family and Community Well-Being (FCW) department focuses on nutrition, health, and the general well-being of the Latino Center of the Midlands’ stakeholders.
Serves as advocate for the families they serve and connects them to vital services in the community. Assists in preparing, planting, and maintaining a garden and provides education in many areas of health and wellness by performing the following duties.
1. Promoting Gardens
2. Wellness Education
3. Connection to Community Resources
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Providing education in areas of gardening, health, food preparation, and available social services.
Teaching family basic gardening skills like planting fruits and vegetable, maintaining a garden, and harvesting.
Visiting families in their homes twice a month (Covid-19 permitting).
Photographing gardens, and reporting on family outcomes.
Engaging families to assess their needs, provide case management, necessary action planning, and connection to community resources, and follow up.
Collecting, uploading, and reporting data to the LCM data collection system and case management systems.
Coordinating and scheduling community activities throughout the year such as workshops or cooking classes.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school (horticulture, human services, public health or related field); OR six months to one year related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
