SPARCC (Student-centered Program to Advance Research in Cancer Careers) is an 8-week, intensive summer program that combines content knowledge and clinical experiences to focus on cancer care, cultural responsiveness, and clinical research. The goal is to immerse students underrepresented in medicine and biomedical research to network and discover pathways into clinical cancer research. SPARCC’s curriculum includes morning workshop sessions and clinical practicum rotations in the afternoon. A research project is conducted with a one-on-one mentor throughout the eight weeks.
**This summer, SPARCC is prepared to run in-person, virtually, or a hybrid of the two. Applicants should be prepared to participate in any of the scenarios**

After being selected for the program, students will…
Expect to dedicate 40 hours per week for workshop sessions and clinical practicum rotations
Attend and actively participate in scholarly activities
Prepare and present experiences at the SPARCC Cancer Networking and Research Summit
Collaborate with SPARCC colleagues
Work alongside faculty and researchers in various clinic spaces across the Medical College of Wisconsin campus, including Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and Froedtert Hospital
