About the Team

The Data Science Team at PetSmart is a small but highly visible group with influence across the business. It is part of the Customer Experience team, which works to provide a personalized experience for our consumers backed by best-in-class, data-driven marketing capabilities. Our work is largely focused on driving customer personalization by better understanding our customers through data. We use the latest big data, cloud and machine learning technology to build and deploy models that are consumed by the business in order to directly drive value.

About the Job

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Experience the Data Scientist function of the leading pet specialty retailer firsthand while you develop the skills to become successful in the world of retail data science.
  • Put your modeling skills to work in regression, classification, clustering, recommender systems and more.
  • Work on and complete your own project designed to make a true impact on the business.
  • Present your recommendations and innovative ideas to PetSmart leaders.
  • Develop and grow your skills with the support of a highly experienced manager and mentor.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED?

  • Junior status (graduating December 2021 or May 2022) pursuing a Data Science, Statistics, Science in Analytics, or other related field of study.
  • Solid critical thinking ability and use of analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication at all levels.
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms.
  • Experience with statistical programming language (R or Python).
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Must be able to produce and present work in a collaborative, team environment.
