Population Connection offers fellowships for entry level professionals with a special interest in population issues. Each fellow has a responsible role working within a specific department and becomes an essential part of that department’s staff.
Fellowships are full-time, but temporary—this position will run through the end 2021. This fellowship will be remote until the Population Connection office in Washington, DC, resumes in-person work (date TBD). Applicants who need to work remotely through the end of 2021 from other locations will also be considered.
The Communications Fellow will work on a team responsible for producing written print and digital materials such as blog posts, magazine articles, fact sheets, press releases, op-eds, letters to the editor, and social media posts.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have an understanding of and enthusiasm for population stabilization, reproductive health and rights, and environmental protection.
This is a writing intensive position, so the ideal candidate will be a clear and confident writer with excellent reading comprehension skills. Breaking down policy news and information and social science research for a lay audience is at the core of our communications efforts.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Compensation:
The Communications Fellow salary is $1,650 before taxes ($42,900 annualized), paid every two weeks. Fellows earn three hours of annual leave and seven hours of sick leave per pay period. Full medical and dental insurance coverage is offered to fellows who are permanent residents or citizens of the United States.
