Shepherd Community Center is a Christian faith based non-profit looking to hire recent college graduates for a year-long urban ministry fellowship experience in various roles. Specifically looking for young emerging leaders who want experience in an Urban Culture.
There are two main portions to the experience. The first is the 8-week summer internship where you work in the community center’s EXCEL program. Working with elementary-age students in both the classroom and on weekly outings. This program looks to limit the amount of education lost during the three months of summer break.
The second portion of this experience would be from August to May. The work during the year has morning and afternoon placements in the academy, after school programming for K-12, childcare center positions, and other various departmental roles (ie-volunteer coordination, food delivery, social services). The fellowship offers a discipleship community experience seeking to provide and assist in discernment of vocational interest, calling, and study.
This program includes room and board for both the fellowship and the internship. There is also a bi-weekly stipend during the summer or a modest yearly salary. This is a full-time (40 hours a week) position geared towards getting graduates experience in their specific areas of expertise along with the after-school programming.
