Duties and Responsibilities Summary
- The Co-op Network Engineer is responsible for supporting the design of the SIGFOX wireless network and will be based in Dallas. The Co-op Network Engineer reports directly to the SIGFOX Director of US Network Planning, who is based in Boston.
- Primary Co-op Network Engineer duties include:
- Wireless Network Design: The Co-op Network Engineer will support the design of the wireless network by performing cell site specific data entry, running network propagation software programs, interpreting network propagation software results and displaying propagation results in various mapping software programs.
- Deployment Team Support: The Co-op Network Engineer will interact directly with the Network Deployment team to modify wireless network designs, perform various “what-if” scenarios and communicate results in a timely and professional manner.
- Sales Team Support: The Co-op Network Engineer will interact directly with the Sales team to respond to various requests for coverage maps in specific areas of the country and containing specific customer locations.
- Headquarters Team Support: The Co-op Network Engineer will interact directly with the Headquarters team in France to ensure the network propagation analyses are being performed per company standards and to support various analysis requests that are required for the US business.
- In order to perform the duties outlined above, the Co-op Network Engineer needs the following minimum qualifications:
- Attitude: The Co-op Network Engineer should be self-motivated, willing to learn and contribute and possess the ability to creatively find solutions to problems. This is paramount to the success of the Co-op Network Engineer and the single most important requirement for this job.
- Mapping Software Programs: The Co-op Network Engineer should have familiarity with various mapping software programs, such as MapInfo, Google Earth (KMZ file creation), ArcGIS, etc.
- Programming and API development/utilization is a key function in this role.
- Spreadsheet and Database Programs: The Co-op Network Engineer should have a deep understanding of spreadsheet and database programs, such as Excel (writing macros), Access, etc. and possess the ability to manage large datasets without error.
- Organization Skills: The Co-op Network Engineer should have strong organizational skills and possess the ability to work in a very fast paced environment as an individual, as part of a small team and across multiple teams.
- Good Communication Skills: The Co-op Network Engineer should have the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing to a range of audiences including, members of the Deployment team, Sales team, Headquarters team and Executive team. Strong verbal and written English is required. Additionally, strong verbal and written French is desired.
- Travel: The Co-op Network Engineer should be willing to travel within the Dallas area and possibly within the US, if needed, for short term work projects. A US driver’s license is required.
