The Hayes Approach is seeking a spring and/or summer 2023 Human Resources intern who will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and exposure to a wide variety of functional areas of HR including talent acquisition, benefits, payroll, and more.
This is a paid internship. We are also happy to provide class credit if needed. Hours and days are flexible and will be determined with your internship supervisor.

Job Purpose
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records and documentation for assigned clients.
- Collaborate frequently with clients, payroll and other HR directors to support projects.
- Keep payroll systems up to date with changes.
- Accurately execute the administrative function of Human Resources for assigned clients.
- Assist with recruiting, screening, onboarding, and HR support services for clients.
Skills Needed
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with professionalism.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information systems, and similar computer applications.
- Currently enrolled in a Human Resources degree program, preferred but other degree fields are also accepted.
Overview of Tasks
- Answers frequently asked questions from employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.
- Maintains the integrity, accuracy, completeness and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Assist with payroll updates, communicate with accounting on payroll related items.
- Creates offer letters, change of status letters and other employee documentation needed using provided templates.
- Conducts or assists with new hire orientations.
- Assists in PTO and timeclock management as needed.
- General projects as assigned.
- Willingness to pursue ongoing education/training in Human Resources
