Student Success Story: Anisha Lama

I am grateful to have been granted the Urban Fellows scholarship. It proved to be quite helpful when it came to covering expenses. This is especially important as I am currently undertaking an unpaid internship worth 350 credits during the fall semester. Since I had to decrease my working hours to fulfill the required internship credit hours, I am now a full-time student who used to work full-time. My family does not live in the United States. I am the sole individual who requires financial support. My daily life became quite challenging as my working hours were reduced, but the scholarship had a substantial impact on me. The internship was a wonderful experience for me. It was an enriching experience to learn about charitable organizations, their work, and their achievements. In addition, I was able to attend the kickoff breakfast campaign hosted by United Way of Denton County, it provided an opportunity to meet partners, stakeholders, and city managers and learn about their contributions to the community’s development. Through my training, I learned how to provide clients with information and referrals so they can connect with resources. – Anisha Lama
