Student Success Story: Wendy Asare

I express my deepest gratitude to the Urban Fellow for awarding me a scholarship. This scholarship has been beneficial as I am currently working as an unpaid intern at United Way of Denton. The scholarship money has enabled me to pay my bills and purchase gas without struggling to make ends meet.
During my internship at United Way of Denton, I have been working in the Health and Mental Health Initiatives department. I have gained valuable experience in event planning, citizen advocacy, and attending high-profile events. Recently, I had the opportunity to help plan an event called “Recovery in the Park,” which was the first of its kind in Denton. It was a resounding success and hearing the inspiring stories from the attendees motivated me to work even harder in my studies and as an intern. -Wendy Asare
