Student Success Story: Rubith Barron

Being a part of the Urban Fellows Internship program has been a very rewarding experience. I am interning with Parkland’s Dallas Healthy Start. My experience here so far has been a very positive and educational experience. I have had the honor of attending community and professional events that focus on addressing important issues that affect and contribute to high maternal and morbidity rates. I was given the opportunity to write the newsletter for Dallas Healthy Start and to help mothers find resources such as food, diapers, and transportation for their family. My future career goals involve working with children and women to help advocate and educate them on important issues that affect their health, and their access to quality healthcare. I believe that my time at Dallas Healthy Start is helping me obtain initiative, collaborative, and communication skills that will allow me to get further in my career goals. –Rubith Barron
