Student Success Story: Anahi Becerra Sandoval

I am so grateful to have been granted entrance to the Urban Fellows program. This program has allowed me to demonstrate to my peers the capabilities, and skills that I have learned during my time at TWU in the classroom. This practicum is a culmination of my efforts here at TWU, and thankfully Urban Fellows has helped me by removing the financial barrier. During my time at AIDS Services of Dallas, I was able to connect with the population by providing housing based case management and other support services that create a safe space for clients to thrive and establish stability. My hope is that my future career focuses on working in the field of HIV Care and advocating for these individuals specifically in the healthcare and housing areas. The agency believes that housing is healthcare, and I truly believe that. I hope to be able to advocate for equity in the healthcare and housing field ,and to be able to gain a career with a strong focus on community outreach. I believe that my time at ASD has both solidified my passion for working in the field of HIV care, and a deeper appreciation for social work and the impact it has on individuals, community , and society at large. -Anahi Becerra Sandoval
