The H.E.A.R.T. Center is a non-profit in Arizona that works with at-risk youth and individuals with disabilities. Starting as an equine therapy facility, the center has expanded programming to include a vocational microschool, inclusive day camps, overnight adventure camps, adaptive sports, and social-emotional learning. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are looking for hands-on experience while gaining vital skills to prepare for future careers. Becoming a camp counselor is great work experience for individuals majoring in education, child development, social work, parks and recreation, non-profit management, healthcare, and more!

This position will be in two locations: Glendale, AZ & Happy Jack, AZ
- Day camps in Glendale, AZ (May-June)
- Room & board not provided for day camp programs in Glendale, AZ
- Overnight camps in Happy Jack, AZ (June-August)
- Room & board provided during overnight camps in Happy Jack, AZ
General Qualifications:
- Ability to instruct or lead individuals or groups in outdoor recreation activities/programs.
- Good physical condition
- Knowledge and experience in one or more of the programs preferred
- Ability to multi task
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background Check
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Camp counselor responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Ensure safety and well-being of campers within a camp setting.
- Supervision of remote camp tents and campers.
- Assist in facilitation of adaptive recreation programming.
- Assist in programming and safety interventions around therapeutic horseback riding.
- Supervision of campers during nature excursions or adaptive recreation outings.
- Participate in creating a safe, positive environment for campers and staff.
- Comply and uphold organizational policies and procedures.
