The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for architecting, managing systems, databases, and cloud infrastructure. This includes responding to escalated incidents, responding to alerts from monitoring and the release of new code and infrastructure as well as acting as an architect to support projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and administers the day-to-day server & database cloud infrastructure components.
  • Initiates and implements the deployments, updates, and changes for all production systems.
  • Administers the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of database infrastructure.
  • Ensures all servers, databases, and other cloud services are setup and maintained to departmental specifications and requirements.
  • Partners and collaborates with the key stakeholders to develop current and future database architecture business objectives that align with organizational goals.
  • Documents and maintains configurations and processes. Monitors and tests database performance and provides database performance statistics and reports to management.
  • Participates in managing and auditing all database security solutions. Implements and maintains procedures for database administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
  • Responds and troubleshoots outage escalations and alerts from monitoring. Performs release of code and infrastructure to production systems.
  • Documents and architects current and future infrastructure. Documents and maintain “Standard Operating Procedures” for systems and IT Infrastructure.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in projects for new design and architecture.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Engineering and/or related preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with IT hardware, software, and network support, and/or security required.
  • Hands-on experience and discipline in managing production environments. Microsoft Azure Certifications is a plus.
  • Demonstrable experience in one or more scripting/programming languages: PowerShell, Python, Perl, Bash, YAML, and Java.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux, Linux services, and Linux networking.
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Knowledge of server virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN and NAS.
  • Knowledge of firewall and networking architecture.
  • Knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, Oracle RAC, Oracle Database, Oracle WebLogic Server, Windows Server, Oracle Linux or RedHat Linux, and Container technologies a plus.
  • Knowledge of IT industry standards, change management processes, and use of enterprise standards change control procedures.
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to provide the explanation of technology for nontechnical managers, directors, and above. Great people skills are a must.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies and practices.
  • Experience deploying Azure resources and other cloud technologies, including Office 365, PAAS, IAAS, SAAS, Power BI, etc.
  • May occasionally work evenings and/or weekends.

Compensation

The anticipated pay range/scale for this position is $105,322.00 to $131,652.00 Annually. Actual starting base pay within this range will depend on factors including geographic location, education, training, skills, and relevant experience.

Additional Compensation

This position is eligible to receive a discretionary annual bonus.

The Company provides 9 paid holidays per year, and, upon hire, new employees will accrue paid time off (PTO) at a rate of 0.0577 hours of PTO per hour worked, up to a maximum of 120 hours per year.
