Title: Volunteer
Volunteers are essential to the care of hospice patients and their families. Volunteer have the ability to work directly with patients, families, and the care team by providing companionship and/or respite in the home/facility. Along with these visits, volunteers get to write medical notes that go into patient charts to document their time spent with the patient/family. All volunteers report directly to the Volunteer Coordinator.
Transportation: Reliable transportation. Valid and current drivers license and auto liability insurance if providing direct patient care.
Extra info:
- All volunteer applicants must agree to and pass a criminal history check (for direct care volunteers).
- Get 2 TB shots, a week apart (provided by Amity and administered by a licensed RN.
- Volunteers must go through staff training, as well as your typical HIPAA Complaint training.
Volunteers can choose between direct patient care volunteering or administrative support. Patient care requires companionship visits where the volunteer reads, plays music, converses, etc. with the patient. Overall, they provide a warm and welcoming presence to the patients environment. Administrative support allows the volunteer to provide clerical support to the office staff, provide bereavement calls, etc.
All volunteers are considered employees in the eyes of Medicare, so they must fill out an employee application which can be provided in a fillable PDF document or in office.
We look forward from hearing from you!
