Are you looking for a part-time afternoon job with flexible hours starting in the coming weeks? Do you want to make a difference in the lives of children by teaching them how to code? Are you looking for a job where you can make up to $40 for teaching a one-hour in-person after-school class? If yes, read on!
At least 2 afternoons a week between 2 – 5 PM, you’ll teach in an in-person setting at a local school. Schools are located in Portland, Scottsdale, and Chandler. The expectation is that you will be willing to drive up to 30 minutes to class placements but we will place you as close to your home as possible.

Coding with Kids is a leading national academy teaching computer programming to students 5-18 years old. We pride ourselves in our class quality, our comprehensive curriculum, and the relationships we build with our instructors and our customers.
Who You Are:
- You have coding experience (this could be anything from coding in Scratch to programming in Python or Java; our team is full of instructors with diverse backgrounds!)
- You have a reliable vehicle to get you to and from your teaching locations
- You have experience working with children or youth in a classroom or a group setting
- You love working with kids and are excited to teach them new skills!
What We Provide:

The winter in-person after-school enrichment classes start in January and each session runs for 8-12 weeks. There are typically three sessions during the school year. We request that when you accept an in-person class, you commit to finishing the whole session.
High quality class performance can qualify for bonuses in addition to the in person bonus related to:
- Strong student retention
- Strong customer feedback
- Completing a full session of in-person classes (8-12 weeks)

- Are you interested in teaching in person, online, or both?
- If you are teaching in person, do you have a personal vehicle such as a car to get to your classes? If yes, does it have enough space in the back seat or trunk to keep a set of laptops and a projector for class which will be provided by us?
- If you are interested in teaching in person, are you open to traveling to school placements within a 30 minute drive radius of your home? If not, please provide the distance you are willing to travel to a school placement.
- This is a part time position, how many hours a week are you hoping to work with us per week knowing that on average instructors work between 5 – 15 hours?
- What coding languages do you know that you would be comfortable using in the classroom?
- Do you know how to teach or use Scratch, Minecraft modding, Roblox development, or Robotics programming skills? (These are optional skills that are not required for employment)
- Our limit for in person instruction is that we can have up to 16 students in a classroom. Are you comfortable working with that amount of students or do you need to work with smaller class sizes or private classes?
- Do you have experience using zoom to the point that you would be comfortable utilizing it for work purposes?
- We offer elementary, middle, and high school instruction, are you open to working with any age group?
- Do you have any experience in K-12 education that you would like for us to be aware of? If you do not have experience in education, do you have any experience working with or volunteering with children that you would like for us to be aware of?
- We at Coding With Kids do not have a policy on vaccination but we do work with a variety of schools that do require vaccination, would we be able to place you in a school that requires covid vaccination? (please note you can decline to answer without it impacting employment)
- How many and which days are you fully available to work between 2 – 5 PM Monday through Friday?
- Were you referred by a current or former employee at Coding with Kids? If so, which employee?
