Urban Fellows Program Expectations
The Career Connections Center at Texas Woman’s University is excited to launch our inaugural TWU Urban Fellow Program! The Urban Fellows Program provides scholarship opportunities for student participants to engage in a non-credit internship experience for 80 hours overall over a course of 8 weeks.
Our expectations:
- Interns are familiar with company rules, policies, expectations, and resources. Interns should be knowledgeable of learning objectives, responsibilities, and expectations (these include the nature of the internship, supervisory arrangements, start and end date, and work schedules)
- Interns are designated a mentor/supervisor who will be responsible for monitoring the progress of the intern, sharing feedback about work performance, providing training or being available to answer questions and is willing to complete an evaluation at the end of the internship.
- Internships may be available to be completed virtually until further notice. Assignments, tasks, or projects should be modified so that the intern can complete assigned tasks at home. Tasks can include, but are not limited to, the following examples: launching a new marketing campaign for the organization, increasing social media presence, reviewing documentation (as deemed appropriate by supervisor/organization) for the betterment of the organization, developing a process improvement plan for a current program or initiative. If there is a board of directors for your organization, we ask that the student intern be allowed to attend meetings as an ex-officio member to learn more about the inner workings of the company.
- Interns can attend staff meetings and related professional activities when possible.
